Churro Poppers

Churro Poppers are the ultimate sweet treat, featuring crispy fried dough coated in a heavenly cinnamon-sugar mix. They’re quick, easy, and made with simple ingredients you likely already have at home!

These bite-sized delights are perfect for any occasion, from game days to parties. Plus, they’re so addictive that one batch might not be enough! Pro tip: use a cookie scoop or a rounded measuring spoon for evenly-sized poppers.

FAQs About Churro Poppers

  • What do churros taste like? Imagine a fluffy doughnut hole coated in cinnamon-sugar bliss.
  • Are churros vegan? Yes, they’re naturally vegan, made with basic ingredients like flour, water, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and oil.
  • Why are my churros doughy inside? If they’re raw inside, fry them a bit longer. If they’re dark but still doughy, your oil might be too hot, or your poppers may need to be smaller.
  • Can I reheat churro poppers? Absolutely! Reheat in a 400°F oven for 3–6 minutes. For best results, coat them with cinnamon sugar after reheating.

Recipe Tips:

  • Pair your churro poppers with dipping sauces like chocolate, Nutella, caramel, or dulce de leche for extra indulgence.
  • Gently roll the dough into balls—just enough to shape them, without overworking.
  • Don’t forget to grab your stretchy pants—because stopping at just one or two is impossible!

Churro Poppers are a delightful dessert made with fried dough coated in cinnamon-sugar magic! This quick and easy recipe uses simple pantry ingredients and is perfect for satisfying sweet cravings.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • Oil for frying

Directions

  • Make Cinnamon-Sugar Coating: In a medium bowl or paper bag, mix ½ cup sugar with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Heat Oil: In a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot, heat about 2 ½ inches of oil to 375°F.
  • Prepare Dough: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 ½ tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a smooth ball.
  • Shape Dough: Once the dough is cool enough to handle, scoop and gently roll into walnut-sized balls.
  • Fry Poppers: Fry 3-4 dough balls at a time, taking care not to overcrowd the fryer. Cook until golden brown, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Coat in Cinnamon-Sugar: While still warm, toss the churro poppers in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  • Serve: Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
