Tennessee Peach Pudding

Tennessee Peach Pudding is one of those desserts that, once you try it, you’ll never forget. We still remember the first time we tasted it – pure magic in every bite! It’s a two-part dessert that might seem a little unusual to make, but trust us, it’s a winner every time. The filling is all about juicy peaches, whether you use fresh or frozen, combined with flour, sugar, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla to create a thick, creamy, and heavenly base. The surprising part comes with the topping, but it’s what makes this dessert so unique and delicious.

Ingredients:

Filling:

  • 5 cups peaches, peeled and diced (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Topping:

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Optional Garnish:

  • Ice cream, whipped cream, or Cool Whip

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Prepare the Topping: In a large saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the brown sugar, sugar, and nutmeg. Stir in the butter and water, bringing the mixture to a boil until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Make the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Once combined, stir in the milk and vanilla extract until smooth, then gently fold in the diced peaches.
  4. Assemble the Pudding: Pour the peach filling into the greased baking dish, then carefully pour the sugar topping over the peach mixture.
  5. Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 50-55 minutes. If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil. Bake until the pudding is cooked through.
  6. Cool & Serve: Remove from the oven and let the pudding cool for about 15 minutes before serving. For extra indulgence, top with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

This warm, comforting dessert is perfect for any occasion, and with the sweet peaches and spiced filling, it’s sure to become a family favorite!
