Homemade French Toast Sticks

If you love French toast but prefer it crispy rather than soft, these French Toast Sticks are perfect! They come out golden and toasty, with a sweet cinnamon sugar coating that makes them irresistible for breakfast, brunch, or even dessert.

Ingredients

For the Egg Mixture:

  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 slices white bread, cut into thirds
  • Nonstick spray

For the Cinnamon Sugar:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the eggs, powdered sugar, milk, maple syrup, and ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon until smooth.
  2. Dip the Bread: Cut each slice of white bread into thirds, making sticks. Dip each piece into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
  3. Make the Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix ½ cup granulated sugar with ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Cook the French Toast Sticks: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and spray it with nonstick spray. Once hot, place the bread sticks in the skillet and brown them on all sides, turning as needed for even cooking.
  5. Coat in Cinnamon Sugar: Once golden and crispy, remove the sticks from the skillet and immediately roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring they’re fully coated.
