Funnel Cake Bites Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Optional: whipped cream, fresh fruit

Instructions:

  1. Make the Batter:
In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Add sugar, salt, and baking soda, stirring until well mixed. Gradually fold in the flour until smooth and lump-free.
  2. Rest the Batter:
Pour the batter into a gallon-sized Ziplock bag and let it rest for a few minutes to thicken slightly.
  3. Heat the Oil:
Heat about ½ inch of vegetable oil in a frying pan over high heat for 2 minutes, then reduce to medium. Test the oil by dropping in a bit of batter—it should sizzle if ready.
  4. Fry the Bites:
Snip a small corner off the Ziplock bag. Pipe 1-2 inch circles of batter into the hot oil. Cook until golden on one side, then flip to brown the other side.
  5. Drain & Serve:
Transfer the bites to paper towels to drain excess oil. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with optional whipped cream or fresh fruit.

Tips:

  • Keep oil at a consistent medium heat for even cooking.
  • Serve bites with caramel or chocolate sauce for extra indulgence.
