  • Notes:

Ingredients:

  • Scale: 1x, 2x, 3x
  • 1 ¼ cups uncooked long grain rice
  • 14.5 oz can beef broth
  • 10.5 oz can French onion soup
  • 1 stick cold butter
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  2. Prepare Rice: In an 8×8 inch baking dish, spread the uncooked rice evenly.
  3. Add Liquids: Pour the beef broth over the rice, followed by the French onion soup.
  4. Add Butter: Slice the cold butter into pats and layer them evenly over the rice and soup mixture.
  5. Cover and Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  6. Uncover and Continue Baking: After 25 minutes, uncover the dish and return it to the oven for an additional 25 minutes.
  7. Serve: Once done, sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes:

  • Ingredient Flexibility: Feel free to experiment with different types of broth or rice to match your dietary needs. For a vegetarian option, substitute vegetable broth for beef broth, and consider using basmati or jasmine rice for added flavor.
  • Make It a Meal: While this dish is excellent as a side, it can easily transform into a hearty main course. Stir in sautéed mushrooms, cooked chicken, or beef chunks after baking for a complete meal.
  • Flavor Enhancer: For an extra kick of flavor, add a splash of white wine to the rice mixture before baking. This subtle acidity will balance the richness of the onions and broth beautifully.
  • Storage Tips: Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. The flavors deepen over time, making the reheated dish even more delicious.
  • Reheating: When reheating, add a splash of broth or water to keep the rice moist and maintain its creamy texture.
