🛒 Ingredients (Makes 4 Rolls)

  • 1 cup (200 g) dried red lentils
  • ⅓ cup (75 ml) water
  • ¼ cup (20 g) ground flaxseed
  • 2 ¼ tbsp (20 g) psyllium husk powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¾ tbsp lemon juice (or vinegar)
  • Seeds for topping (optional)

👩‍🍳 How to Make Lentil Bread Rolls

1. Soak the Lentils

Rinse lentils thoroughly, then soak in plenty of water for at least 2 hours (or overnight). Drain well.

2. Blend the Dough

In a food processor, combine soaked lentils, fresh water, flaxseed, psyllium husk, and salt. Blend until smooth and sticky.

3. Activate & Mix

Add baking powder, baking soda, and lemon juice (or vinegar). Blend briefly to combine.

4. Shape the Rolls

With damp hands, divide into 4 portions and shape into round rolls. Optional: coat with seeds for added texture.

5. Bake

Place on a lined baking tray and bake at 360°F (180°C) for 23–25 minutes.
Let cool completely before serving.

💡 Tips for Success

  • Work quickly after adding baking soda + acid—it activates immediately
  • Dough should be thick and sticky, not runny
  • Use fresh baking powder/soda for best rise
  • Let rolls cool fully to set their texture

🌿 Flavor Variations

  • Savory: garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, herbs
  • Spicy: chili flakes or cayenne
  • Add-ins: olives, sun-dried tomatoes, jalapeños
  • Cheesy vibe: nutritional yeast or vegan cheese

🍽️ How to Serve

  • Toast and top with avocado or hummus
  • Use for sandwiches or burgers
  • Pair with soups, stews, or salads
  • Enjoy with sautéed mushrooms or roasted veggies

🧊 Storage & Freezing

  • Room temp: 1–2 days (airtight container)
  • Freezer: up to 3 months
👉 Thaw at room temp or reheat gently
