Ingredients

Crust:

  • 2 2/3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup powdered milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 package quick-rise yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 2/3 cups warm water (110-115°F)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Filling:

  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1/2 pound ground chuck
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded

Sauce (prepare a day ahead for best flavor):

  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F.
  • Spray an 18×13-inch sheet pan with non-stick spray and line with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix flour, powdered milk, sugar, yeast, and salt. Stir in the warm water and oil until a dough forms.
  • Spread the dough evenly on the sheet pan with your fingertips. If it’s hard to spread, let it rest for 5 minutes before trying again.
  • Pre-bake the crust for 8-10 minutes, then set aside.

2. Cook the Meats:

  • Brown the Italian sausage and ground chuck in a skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Drain and set aside.

3. Assemble the Pizza:

  • Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pre-baked crust.
  • Distribute the browned meats across the sauce.
  • Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

4. Final Bake:

  • Bake for another 8-10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let the pizza rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Enjoy your school-style pizza, perfect for any occasion!
