Poor Man Husband Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz egg noodles, cooked
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 2 cans (30 oz total) tomato sauce
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it into crumbles. Drain excess grease.
  4. Add garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the beef. Stir well.
  5. Stir in the sugar, then add the tomato sauce. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
  7. Layer half of the cooked noodles in the baking dish, then spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the noodles.
  8. Add half of the meat mixture on top of the sour cream layer. Repeat the layers.
  9. Sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly on top.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
