With just one bowl and four simple ingredients, you can whip up this easy, creamy vanilla buttercream frosting in just 10 minutes. Perfect for cakes, cupcakes, or any sweet treat!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks), softened
- 16 oz powdered sugar (about 3.5-4 cups)
- 1-2 tbsp milk or heavy whipping cream (up to 1/4 cup, optional)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions:
- Cream the butter:
Using a hand mixer or stand mixer with a paddle or whisk attachment, beat the softened butter on medium-high speed until it becomes pale and creamy, about 4-5 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl halfway through if needed. - Add powdered sugar and vanilla:
Turn off the mixer and add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix on low speed for about 1 minute, until the ingredients start to combine and the mixture looks crumbly. - Mix until fluffy:
Increase the mixer speed to medium-high and continue mixing for another 3-4 minutes, until the frosting becomes light and fluffy. - Adjust the consistency:
If the frosting is too thick, gradually add milk or cream, 1/2 tablespoon at a time, and mix until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
This classic frosting is perfect for piping, spreading, and most importantly, tasting!
