Apple Rose Pastries – A Delightful Dessert That’s as Beautiful as It Is Delicious!

No pastry chef skills are needed for this show-stopping rose-shaped dessert! These Apple Rose Pastries taste just like apple pie and look like blooming red roses. Made with thinly sliced apples, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and rolled in a flaky puff pastry, they’re the perfect blend of taste and elegance.

  • Ingredients
  • Directions

Ingredients

  • ½ package Puff Pastry Sheets (1 sheet), thawed
  • 2 red apples (like Red Delicious)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (from ½ lemon)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, for dusting
  • 3 tablespoons apricot preserves (or cinnamon)

Directions

  1. Thaw the Pastry: Let the puff pastry thaw at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Prepare Apples: Fill a bowl with water and lemon juice. Cut the apples in half, remove the core, and slice thinly, keeping the peel for color. Place slices in the bowl immediately to prevent browning. Microwave for about 3 minutes or simmer until slices are soft enough to bend without breaking.
  3. Prep the Dough: Lightly flour your counter, then roll out the puff pastry into a 12×9-inch rectangle (30×22 cm). Cut into 6 strips, each about 2×9 inches (5×22 cm).
  4. Add Preserves: In a small bowl, mix apricot preserves with two tablespoons of water and warm it for about one minute. Spread a thin layer over each strip of dough.
  5. Preheat Oven: Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Drain apple slices.
  6. Assemble Roses: Arrange apple slices along each strip of dough, overlapping with the skin side sticking out slightly. Sprinkle with cinnamon, fold up the bottom half of the dough, and carefully roll each strip to form a rose. Seal the end and place each rose in a muffin cup. Grease if using a metal pan.
  7. Bake: Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until fully cooked. If apples start to brown too quickly, move the pan to a lower rack or cover loosely with foil for the last 10-15 minutes.
  8. Serve: Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Storage: Best enjoyed fresh but can be kept in an airtight container at room temperature for two days or refrigerated for up to three days. Rewarm in the oven before serving for the best flavor and texture!
