This Teriyaki Chicken Fried Rice recipe is a game-changer and way better than takeout. Delicious, flavorful chicken combined with savory fried rice makes for a satisfying and easy meal!
Ingredients
For the Chicken:
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 1 cup flour
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp. paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Teriyaki Sauce:
- 1/2 cup low-sodium teriyaki sauce (use a good quality sauce, like Veri Veri Teriyaki Low Sodium)
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp. sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp. honey
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
Instructions
- Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, and minced garlic. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed—add more honey for sweetness or soy sauce for saltiness. Dissolve cornstarch into the sauce and set aside. - Prepare the Chicken:
Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces. In a bowl or plastic bag, combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Dredge the chicken pieces until fully coated on all sides. - Cook the Chicken:
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a bit of light olive oil. Cook the dredged chicken until nearly done, about 5-6 minutes. - Add the Sauce:
Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the chicken and toss to coat. Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the chicken is fully cooked. Transfer the chicken to a plate. - Combine with Fried Rice:
Use pre-cooked fried rice (like Costco’s) or make your own. Add the cooked teriyaki chicken to the fried rice, mix well, and serve hot.
