Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta (orecchiette, penne, rigatoni, or fusilli)
  • 2 pints cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 8 oz block feta cheese
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Zest of ½ lemon
  • ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup reserved pasta water
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped (plus more for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the tomatoes:
    Add cherry tomatoes to a baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, and lemon zest. Toss to coat evenly.
  3. Add the feta:
    Place the block of feta in the center of the dish. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and season with black pepper.
  4. Bake:
    Roast for 35–40 minutes, until the tomatoes burst and the feta is soft and golden.
  5. Cook the pasta:
    While the feta bakes, cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Reserve ¼ cup of pasta water, then drain.
  6. Combine and serve:
    Remove the baking dish from the oven and stir everything together to create a creamy sauce. Add cooked pasta, reserved pasta water, and fresh basil. Toss well and serve warm with extra basil on top.
