the best Olive Garden Chicken Alfredo

Enjoy the rich flavors of Olive Garden’s famous Chicken Alfredo with this simple, homemade recipe. Tender, juicy chicken breasts pair perfectly with creamy Parmesan Alfredo sauce and perfectly cooked fettuccine pasta for a meal that’s indulgent yet easy enough for any weeknight.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Creamy, cheesy Alfredo sauce made with real Parmesan and heavy cream
  • Juicy, golden chicken breasts seasoned simply and cooked to perfection
  • Perfectly tender fettuccine tossed in sauce for full flavor in every bite
  • Quick stovetop preparation — ready in just 35 minutes
  • Gluten-free option (choose gluten-free pasta) for those with dietary needs

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 12 oz fettuccine pasta (or gluten-free pasta)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

2. Prepare the Chicken

Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5–6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and slice thinly.

3. Make the Alfredo Sauce

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and simmer gently for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. Add Parmesan and Adjust Sauce

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

5. Combine and Serve

Add the cooked fettuccine to the sauce and toss to coat evenly. Arrange sliced chicken on top. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately while warm.

Tips and Variations

  • Season to taste: Adjust salt and pepper as needed in the sauce.
  • Grilled chicken option: For a smoky flavor, swap pan-seared chicken for grilled chicken breasts.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to avoid sauce separation.
