Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter (softened)
- 2/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup salt (for cooking)
Directions:
Step 1:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together softened butter, powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until smooth. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Gradually add this dry mixture into the butter mixture, stirring well until everything is combined. Next, transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
Step 2:
Pipe the dough onto a round baking tray. Place the tray in the fridge or freezer for at least 30 minutes to set the cookies. This will help prevent them from spreading too much during cooking.
Step 3:
To cook the cookies on the stovetop, add a cup of salt to a large pan. Place a steaming rack in the middle, and preheat the pan over medium heat. Place the tray of cookies on top of the steaming rack, cover with a lid, and cook for 30 to 35 minutes on medium heat. If you prefer to bake them in the oven, preheat it to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 15 minutes.
Once they’re done, let the cookies cool completely before serving.
Enjoy these easy stovetop butter cookies that are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth without turning on the oven!
