Spiced Christmas Margarita

Shake up your holiday season with a Spiced Christmas Margarita — a festive twist on the classic cocktail that’s bursting with bright citrus, sweet pomegranate, and warm holiday spices. It’s the perfect balance of cozy and refreshing for your winter celebrations.

Why You’ll Love It

This holiday margarita combines smooth tequila with tangy pomegranate and tangerine juice, sweetened naturally with honey, and spiced with cinnamon, ginger, and a hint of cayenne for a subtle kick. Served in a cinnamon-sugar-rimmed glass and garnished with rosemary and a cinnamon stick, it’s as stunning as it is delicious.

Quick Facts

  • Method: Shaken
  • Flavor Profile: Sweet, tangy, warm, lightly spicy
  • Glassware: Rocks glass
  • ABV: ~18–20%
  • Serves: 1

Ingredients

For the Margarita:

  • 2.5 oz pomegranate juice
  • 2 oz tangerine or orange juice
  • 2 oz silver/blanco tequila (Patrón Silver recommended)
  • 0.5 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary (garnish)
  • Splash of ginger beer (optional)

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Rim:

  • 1 tbsp coarse sugar
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prepare the Rim
Mix coarse sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and cayenne in a small bowl. Rub a tangerine or orange wedge around the rim of a rocks glass, then dip into the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Fill the glass with ice.
  2. Mix the Cocktail
In a cocktail shaker, add pomegranate juice, tangerine juice, tequila, orange liqueur, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Shake
Fill the shaker with ice, seal, and shake vigorously for 15 seconds until well chilled.
  4. Serve
Strain into your prepared glass over fresh ice. For a bubbly finish, top with ginger beer.
  5. Garnish & Enjoy
Add a cinnamon stick and fresh rosemary sprig for a festive touch.

Tips & Variations

  • Make Ahead: Mix juices, honey, and spices in advance. Add tequila and shake before serving.
  • Boozier Option: Use mezcal for a smoky holiday twist.
  • No Ginger Beer? Skip it for a still, smoother drink.

Festive Pairing Ideas

Serve alongside holiday appetizers like baked brie, spiced nuts, or cranberry-glazed meatballs for a full seasonal experience.
