Ingredients You’ll Need

For exact measurements, refer to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Beef chuck roast – Boneless and sliced thin for tender bites.
  • Beef consomme or beef broth – Enhances the rich, savory flavor.
  • Low sodium soy sauce – Adds the perfect umami taste.
  • Dark brown sugar – Provides a deep molasses-infused sweetness.
  • Sesame oil – Essential for an authentic flavor.
  • Garlic cloves – Fresh and minced for a robust taste.
  • Cornstarch – Helps thicken the sauce.
  • Frozen broccoli florets – No need to thaw before adding.
  • Cooked white or brown rice – The perfect base for serving.

How to Make Beef and Broccoli in the Slow Cooker

This slow-cooked dish is simple to prepare and delivers melt-in-your-mouth beef with a flavorful sauce.

  1. Prepare the Sauce – In a bowl, whisk together beef consomme, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and garlic.
  2. Add Beef to Slow Cooker – Lay sliced beef in the slow cooker and pour the sauce over it, tossing to coat.
  3. Slow Cook – Cook on low for about 6 hours (check at 5 hours to prevent overcooking and shredding).
  4. Thicken the Sauce – About an hour before the cooking time is up, whisk 1/4 cup of the sauce with cornstarch and stir it back into the slow cooker.
  5. Add Broccoli – Stir in the frozen broccoli in the last 30 minutes, allowing it to heat through without becoming mushy.
  6. Serve and Enjoy – Serve hot over white rice and savor the flavors!

Storage Tips

  • Refrigerator: Cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Keeps well for 2-4 days.
  • Freezer: Store in an airtight container or ziplock bag for 2-4 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat on the stovetop.
