  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 8-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. If using dark chocolate, melt it together with the butter in a double boiler or microwave, stirring every 30 seconds to avoid burning. Let it cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add the melted chocolate-butter mixture and stir well.
  4. Sift the flour and salt over the wet ingredients and gently mix until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix. If desired, fold in the chopped walnuts.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a little bit of batter (not fully clean).
  6. Let the brownie cool in the pan for a few minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
