Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground chicken (thigh meat for juiciness, or turkey)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup red onion, finely chopped (or green onions)
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp fresh mint, chopped (optional, but delicious)
  • ¼ cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • ¼ cup sun-dried tomatoes, finely chopped (oil-packed, drained)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Olive oil, for cooking

For the Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions

Make the Meatballs

  1. Mix the ingredients – In a large bowl, combine chicken, breadcrumbs, and egg. Add garlic, onion, herbs, feta, and sun-dried tomatoes. Season with cumin, coriander, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined (don’t overmix).
  2. Shape – With damp hands, roll into 1–1.5 inch balls. You should get about 20–24 meatballs.
  3. Cook –
    • Pan-fry: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs in batches, 4–5 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through.
    • Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place meatballs on a parchment-lined sheet and bake 15–20 minutes, until golden and cooked through.

Make the Tzatziki

  1. Grate cucumber and squeeze out excess liquid.
  2. In a bowl, mix yogurt, cucumber, garlic, dill, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Adjust to taste.

Serving Ideas

  • With pita bread – Wrap meatballs with pita, lettuce, and a dollop of tzatziki.
  • As a bowl – Serve over rice, couscous, or quinoa with roasted vegetables.
  • On a platter – Perfect as a party appetizer with tzatziki for dipping.

Tips & Variations

  • Make ahead: Mix meatball ingredients up to 1 day ahead, refrigerate, and cook when ready.
  • Freeze: Freeze uncooked meatballs on a tray, then transfer to a freezer bag. Cook from frozen, adding extra time.
  • Swap herbs: Use more parsley if you don’t have fresh mint.
  • Spicy kick: Add chili flakes or a finely chopped chili pepper.
