Magic Cookie Bars from Eagle Brand

These Magic Cookie Bars are a timeless favorite! Made with layers of chocolate chips, shredded coconut, chopped nuts, and sweetened condensed milk over a graham cracker crust, they’re incredibly easy to whip up and impossible to resist. Perfect for sharing or enjoying as a sweet treat any time.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ⅓ cups shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • For a glass baking dish, preheat to 325°F (165°C).
    • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Prepare the Crust:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter.
    • Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared dish.
  3. Add Layers:
    • Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust.
    • Sprinkle the chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and nuts in even layers over the top.
    • Use the back of a fork to press the toppings gently into the condensed milk layer.
  4. Bake:
    • Place the dish in the oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.
  5. Cool and Serve:
    • Let the bars cool completely before cutting into 36 squares or diamond-shaped pieces.

Tips for Success

  • For added flavor, consider mixing in crushed peanut butter pretzels or using crushed Oreos in place of the graham cracker crumbs.
  • To make the crust easier, melt the butter directly in the baking dish in the oven before adding the graham cracker crumbs.

Storage

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Refrigerate for longer storage (up to 1 week) or freeze for up to 3 months. When freezing, wrap bars tightly in plastic wrap and foil.
