  • 1⅓ cups hot water

How to Make Keto Flaxseed Bread

Step 1: Prepare the Oven

Preheat oven to 356°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2: Grind the Flaxseeds

Grind the whole golden flaxseeds in a spice grinder, coffee grinder, or small blender until they become a fine flour.

Step 3: Mix the Dry Ingredients

Transfer the ground flaxseed to a bowl. Add psyllium husk powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir well.

Step 4: Add Hot Water

Pour in the hot water and mix with a spoon. Once cool enough to handle, knead gently for a few seconds only. Do not over-knead.

Step 5: Shape the Bread

Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a round loaf or disk.

Step 6: Bake

Lightly wet the top of the dough and sprinkle with extra flaxseeds if desired. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the bread rises and forms a golden crust.

Step 7: Cool Completely

Transfer to a wire rack and let cool completely before slicing.

FAQs

Can I use brown flaxseeds?

Golden flaxseeds are best because they have a milder flavor. Brown flaxseeds can taste stronger and more earthy.

Can I use store-bought ground flaxseed?

It’s not recommended. Some brands are defatted and may not work properly. Freshly ground whole flaxseeds give the best result.

Why is my bread dense?

This can happen if the flaxseed is not finely ground, if too much water is used, if the dough is over-kneaded, or if the oven does not have good air circulation.

Can I bake it in a loaf pan?

Yes, but the baking time may need adjusting.

Is this bread vegan?

Yes. This recipe is completely egg-free, dairy-free, and vegan.
