Iced English Tea Latte (Easy 2-Ingredient Drink!)

Sipping on an iced English tea latte is the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day. With just two simple ingredients, you can whip up a creamy, refreshing drink that tastes just as good as your favorite coffee shop version—without the extra cost or the plastic cup!

Why You’ll Love This Drink

When the weather heats up, a cold drink becomes non-negotiable. And while it’s easy to swing by a café for an iced latte, making your own at home is:

  • Cheaper
  • Creamier
  • Eco-friendly
  • Ridiculously easy

Once you try this homemade iced English tea latte, you’ll wonder why you ever paid for one.

Only Two Ingredients Needed

Since this is a latte, you already know milk is involved. The only other must-have is black tea bags. That’s it—just milk + tea. You can add sweetener if you like, but the natural sweetness of the milk is often enough.

Here’s what makes this latte different from regular tea:
The tea is steeped directly in hot milk instead of hot water.
This gives your drink a deeper flavor, richer color, and an ultra-creamy texture.

How to Make It

The process is simple:

  1. Heat the milk in a small pot just until steaming—do not boil.
  2. Pour the hot milk over your tea bags in a measuring cup.
  3. Steep for 10 minutes.
Milk takes longer than water to extract flavor, so don’t rush it.
  4. After steeping, squeeze and discard the tea bags.
  5. Cover with a towel and let cool to avoid a skin forming on top.
  6. Once slightly cooled, cover and refrigerate until fully chilled.
  7. Pour over ice and enjoy!

The long steeping time results in a beautiful amber color and a deliciously bold tea flavor.

Which Milk & Tea Work Best?

Milk Options

  • Whole milk is my favorite—rich, creamy, and flavorful.
  • Low-fat milk works too, but will be thinner.
  • Dairy-free? Try:
    • Almond milk
    • Soy milk
    • Oat milk
    • Coconut milk (richer and more dessert-like)

Tea Options

  • Black tea is classic and gives the best flavor.
  • You can experiment with other teas if you like—just use tea bags, not loose leaves.
  • Herbal teas may work, but the milk combination can vary in taste.

Make a Batch for the Fridge

Want iced tea lattes ready anytime? Double or triple the recipe!

Just:

  1. Multiply the milk and tea bags.
  2. Steep in a larger container.
  3. Chill thoroughly.
  4. Store in a glass bottle or jar in the fridge.

You can pour a glass whenever you need a refreshing pick-me-up.

⭐ Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups whole milk (or milk of choice)
  • 2 black tea bags
  • Sweetener, optional

Instructions

  1. Place tea bags in a heat-safe measuring cup.
  2. Warm milk over low heat until steaming (don’t boil).
  3. Pour hot milk over tea bags and steep for 10 minutes.
  4. Gently squeeze tea bags and discard.

For a Larger Batch

Notes

  • Whole milk makes the latte creamier, but any milk works.
  • Add sweetener while the milk is still warm for easy dissolving.
  • Cover while cooling to prevent a skin from forming.
