Homemade Lemon Brownies

I’m excited to share this amazing recipe for Homemade Lemon Brownies! I first tried them at a recent picnic, and I was instantly hooked by their unique texture and bright lemon flavor. These brownies are soft, zesty, and perfect for anyone who loves a refreshing citrus twist on a classic dessert.

Ingredients

For the Batter:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the butter and sugar until creamy and smooth.
  3. Add the eggs, lemon juice, and zest, whisking until fully combined.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour and salt until the batter is smooth.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. While the brownies are baking, make the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar with lemon juice and zest. For a thinner glaze, add a little more juice.
  7. Once the brownies are out of the oven, pour the glaze over the hot cake and let it soak in. Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
