Healthy Chocolate Banana Bread

This Healthy Chocolate Banana Bread is the perfect way to use up extra ripe bananas! Oil-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free, this moist chocolate banana bread has all the rich flavor of a fudgy brownie—yet it’s nutritious!

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 2 eggs
  • 60g (¼ cup) nut butter (almond, peanut, cashew, or sunflower seed butter)
  • 70g (⅓ cup) granular sweetener (erythritol or coconut sugar)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅙ tsp sea salt
  • 150g (1 ½ cup) oat flour, whole wheat, or all-purpose flour
  • 50g (½ cup) cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 50g (½ cup) chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a 20 cm (7.9 inches) loaf pan with parchment paper or lightly grease with oil.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Add in the nut butter and eggs, stirring to combine.
  3. Mix in your chosen sweetener, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk the wet mixture for about 2 minutes until everything is well incorporated.
  4. Stir in the oat flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder until fully combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and optionally sprinkle more chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
