French Dip Biscuits

French Dip Biscuits take the classic French dip sandwich and turn it into a buttery, cheesy, handheld delight. These golden, flaky biscuits are filled with tender roast beef, melty provolone, and a touch of horseradish sauce, making them perfect as a snack, appetizer, or main dish. Serve them with a side of rich au jus for dipping, and you’ve got an irresistible, crowd-pleasing treat.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Quick and easy to make in just 22 minutes
  • Flaky, buttery biscuits with juicy, savory fillings
  • Versatile: perfect for casual dinners, parties, or game-day snacks
  • Easily customizable with different cheeses or extra toppings

Ingredients

  • 1 (16.3-oz) can refrigerated biscuits (8-count)
  • 1 lb thinly sliced deli roast beef
  • 2 Tbsp creamy horseradish sauce, or to taste
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 (1-oz) packet Au Jus Gravy mix

Optional Additions: caramelized onions, Swiss or cheddar cheese, spicy mustard

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2️⃣ Prep the Biscuits:
Separate each biscuit into two layers. Spread a thin layer of horseradish sauce on each layer for a zesty kick.

3️⃣ Assemble the Biscuits:
Place a slice of provolone cheese on the bottom biscuit layer, then top with 2–3 slices of roast beef. Cover with the top biscuit layer and pinch the edges to seal.

4️⃣ Bake:
Place assembled biscuits on the prepared baking sheet. Brush lightly with melted butter if desired. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese has melted.

5️⃣ Prepare Au Jus:
While the biscuits bake, prepare the au jus gravy mix according to package directions.

6️⃣ Serve:
Serve warm, with au jus for dipping. Optionally, add spicy mustard, honey mustard, or a side salad to complete the meal.

Tips & Variations

  • Cheese Swap: Try Swiss, cheddar, or mozzarella for different flavors and textures.
  • Make Ahead: Assemble biscuits up to 4 hours in advance and refrigerate until baking.
  • Storage: Wrap leftovers individually and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
  • Extra Flavor: Add caramelized onions or a sprinkle of fresh herbs for a gourmet touch.

Serving Suggestions

  • Pair with a crisp green salad or roasted vegetables
  • Serve alongside extra horseradish sauce or mustard
  • Great for game-day snacks, potlucks, or cozy dinners
