Easy No-Oven Turkish Bread (Bazlama) – Soft, Fluffy & Perfect for Wraps

This homemade Turkish bread (Bazlama) is incredibly soft, fluffy, and surprisingly easy to make. Cooked in a pan with no oven required, this versatile flatbread puffs up beautifully, creating a light, airy center—perfect for stuffing, wrapping, or dipping.

Whether you’re preparing a quick dinner or looking for a homemade bread alternative, this recipe is a must-try!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • No oven needed – cooked entirely on the stovetop
  • Soft, fluffy texture with a hollow center
  • Perfect for wraps, sandwiches, or dipping
  • Simple ingredients you already have at home
  • Freezer-friendly for meal prep

Ingredients

For the Dough (6 breads – 18 cm each)

  • 500 g (4 cups) bread flour or all-purpose flour
  • 160 ml (2/3 cup) warm milk
  • 160 ml (2/3 cup) warm water
  • 10 g (1 tbsp) sugar
  • 10 g (1.5 tbsp) instant dry yeast
  • 8 g (1.5 tsp) salt

Optional Topping

  • 20 g melted butter or olive oil
  • Chopped parsley

Instructions

1. Activate the Yeast

In a bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Mix well and let it sit for a few minutes.

2. Make the Dough

Add flour and salt to the mixture. Stir until combined, then knead the dough by hand until smooth and no longer sticky.

3. Let the Dough Rise

Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

4. Shape the Bread

Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and shape into balls. Cover and let them rest briefly.
Roll each piece into a round shape about 18 cm wide and 5 mm thick.

5. Cook the Bread

Heat a thick pan over medium heat.
Cook each piece on one side until bubbles form, then flip.
As the bread puffs up like a balloon, reduce heat to low and continue cooking until golden.

6. Keep Warm & Finish

Cover cooked bread with a cloth to keep soft.
Brush with melted butter or olive oil and sprinkle with parsley if desired.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use a thick pan for better puffing and even cooking
