Easy Homemade Brownies — Simple Recipe from Basic Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup oil or 1 stick (1/2 cup) melted butter
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Optional Add-ins:

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the oil or melted butter, cocoa powder, and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well to combine.
  4. Stir in the flour and salt until just combined—don’t overmix!
  5. If desired, fold in chocolate chips and/or chopped walnuts for extra texture and flavor.
  6. Spread the batter evenly in your prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let cool before cutting into squares and serving.
