Easy Baked Ravioli Recipe — Comfort Food Made Simple

When we adopted some kiddos years ago, our wonderful neighbor brought this baked ravioli dish over to help make life a little easier. Ever since, it’s become a family favorite that I love to make again and again. This recipe is super easy, budget-friendly, and perfect for busy weeknights when you want a comforting meal without a lot of fuss.

Once you try this baked ravioli casserole, I’m confident it’ll become a go-to in your kitchen too!

What You’ll Need

  • 3 cans crushed tomatoes (or tomato sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons garlic salt
  • 2 bags frozen ravioli (1 cheese and 1 beef)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Easy Variations to Try

  • Sauce Swap: Use your favorite spaghetti sauce, marinara, or meat sauce instead of crushed tomatoes.
  • Add Protein: For a heartier dish, toss in cooked ground beef, Italian sausage, or ground turkey.
  • Veggie Boost: Sneak in fresh spinach, sautéed onions, or other veggies in between the layers.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt.
  3. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray for easy cleanup.
  4. Layer half the cheese ravioli in the pan.
  5. Add a layer of beef ravioli on top.
  6. Pour half of the tomato sauce mixture over the ravioli layers.
  7. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Repeat with the remaining cheese ravioli, beef ravioli, sauce, and cheeses.
  9. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 50 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese bubbles and turns golden.
  11. Let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Helpful Tips

  • Spraying the pan before layering helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup easier.
  • Baking times may vary depending on your oven — make sure the dish is heated through.
  • Let the dish rest after baking so the layers set and it’s easier to serve.

Serving Suggestions

This baked ravioli is delicious on its own, but we love pairing it with:

  • Garlic bread or cheesy breadsticks — perfect for dipping in the flavorful sauce.
  • A simple fresh salad.
  • Easy roasted green beans or steamed broccoli for a quick veggie side.
