Ingredients
For the Bread:
- 1/2 cup softened butter (1 stick)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups diced green apple (peeled)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
For the Topping:
- 5 tbsp cold butter
- 1/3 cup flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
For the Vanilla Glaze:
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 10 x 4-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy. Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla, and mix well.
- Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the diced apples and chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- In a small bowl, mix all the topping ingredients together until crumbly. Sprinkle over the top of the batter.
- Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the bread cool on a wire rack.
- While the bread cools, whisk together all the glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread.
