A Nostalgic Treat

This recipe takes me back to lazy Sunday afternoons at my grandmother’s kitchen, where the warm aroma of vanilla and cinnamon always filled the air. The moment I tasted the creamy filling wrapped in buttery crescent dough, I knew it was pure magic. Over the years, I’ve refined the recipe slightly, but the comforting, nostalgic essence remains the same—perfect for sharing with loved ones.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Quick and Easy: Prep in just 15 minutes, bake for 30—perfect for last-minute gatherings.
  • Creamy & Rich: Softened cream cheese blends with sugar and vanilla to create a luscious filling.
  • Buttery & Flaky: Crescent roll dough forms a golden, crisp crust that contrasts perfectly with the creamy center.
  • Sweet Cinnamon Crunch: Topped with cinnamon-sugar for a lightly spiced finish.
  • Versatile: Serve warm, chilled, or even drizzle with honey for extra indulgence.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 (8 oz) blocks cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. First Layer of Dough:
Unroll one can of crescent dough and press it into the bottom of the pan, sealing seams for a solid base.
  3. Cream Cheese Filling:
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese with 1 cup sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  4. Assemble Filling:
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough layer.
  5. Top Layer of Dough:
Unroll the second can of crescent dough and lay it on top of the filling. Press seams to create a smooth top.
  6. Butter & Cinnamon-Sugar Topping:
Brush melted butter evenly over the top. Combine cinnamon and 2 tbsp sugar, then sprinkle over the buttered dough.
  7. Bake:
Bake 30 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Cool & Serve:
Let cool at least 20 minutes before slicing. Optionally, drizzle with honey for extra sweetness.

Storage Tips

  • Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Reheat individual slices in the microwave.
  • Freezer: Wrap tightly and freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge, then warm in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes.

Variations & Add-Ins

  • Fruit: Add fresh berries or fruit preserves between layers.
  • Chocolate: Mix mini chocolate chips into the cream cheese filling.
  • Nutty: Sprinkle chopped nuts for crunch.
  • Spiced: Add nutmeg or allspice to the cinnamon-sugar topping.
  • Dairy-Free/Gluten-Free: Use dairy-free cream cheese, butter, or gluten-free crescent dough.

This Cheesecake Crescent Rolls Casserole is a crowd-pleasing dessert that blends buttery, flaky layers with creamy, sweet indulgence. Perfect for every occasion!
