This cruffin recipe is made with crescent roll dough filled with a savory cheesy chive garlic butter, then rolled, cut, and baked to golden perfection in a muffin tin. These irresistible cruffins are the perfect blend of buttery, cheesy goodness!
Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 3 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent roll sheets
For the Filling:
- ½ cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon chives, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 3 cups (339 g) mild cheddar cheese, shredded (divided)
For the Garlic Butter:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chives, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly spray a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick spray. On a lightly floured surface, roll each tube of dough into a 12×16-inch rectangle. (If using perforated crescent roll dough, pinch the seams to seal.)
- Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter with chives and garlic. Spread about ⅓ of the mixture onto one sheet of dough, then evenly sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Roll and Cut: Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log in half to create two shorter logs, then cut each of those in half lengthwise, making four sections. Repeat this process with the remaining two sheets of dough, leaving you with 12 sections.
- Form the Cruffins: With the layered side facing outward, roll each section into a cinnamon roll shape, tucking the ends in. Place each cruffin into the prepared muffin tin.
- Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown. While the cruffins bake, prepare the garlic butter.
- Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, chives, and salt.
- Finish: Brush the garlic butter over the warm cruffins right out of the oven, and enjoy!
