You know those travel days where everything that could go wrong does? All you want is to reach your destination and crash, hoping the next day will be better. But there’s one thing that can almost immediately brighten the worst travel day—a warm DoubleTree hotel chocolate chip cookie. And guess what? Now you can make them at home!
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup oats (ground into flour)
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 large eggs
- 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Preparation:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, oat flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, whisk melted butter with both sugars until combined. Mix in eggs, vanilla, and lemon juice.
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients, being careful not to over-mix. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.
- Scoop 2-3 tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets. Chill for at least 1-2 hours or up to 24 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Flatten cookies slightly and bake for 13-15 minutes (or 10-12 minutes for smaller cookies), until golden but still soft in the center.
- Let cool for 15 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
