This 20-minute honey garlic shrimp is a quick and flavorful dish that’s perfect for busy weeknights. With just a few simple ingredients, including honey, soy sauce, and garlic, it delivers big taste with minimal effort. Serve it with brown rice, steamed vegetables, or over a salad for a healthy, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (preferably reduced sodium)

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (or 1 teaspoon jarred minced garlic)

  • Optional: 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger

  • 1 lb medium uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil

  • Optional for garnish: chopped green onions

Directions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger (if using). Reserve half of the mixture for cooking.
  • Place the shrimp in a large sealable bag or container, then pour half of the marinade over the shrimp. Seal and refrigerate for 15 minutes (or up to 12 hours).
  • While the shrimp is marinating, prepare your side dishes (we recommend steaming broccoli and microwaving quick brown rice).
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp to the pan, discarding the used marinade. Cook on one side until pink (about 45 seconds), then flip the shrimp. Pour in the reserved marinade and cook until shrimp is fully cooked, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Serve the shrimp with the sauce, garnished with green onions. The sauce is perfect over rice or steamed vegetables.
